Distort

Emerging perpendicular from the ground yet structures like pillars go unnoticed. These lines, vertical to horizontal, need to be exploited to their fullest potential. Highlighting these elements tend to signify their presence as markers of place making for that community.

This was a one day intervention. The application was achieved using a ladder and roller attached to a steel rod.

Enter

Highly dense entrances have various vantage points through which you enter that space.
This complicates the environment around that space. In this noise the entire indication of that
space being entry point is lost.
The transformer structure provided a minimal sense of access to a highly populated surrounding.
Highlighting or transforming the way onlooker examines the site or even acknowledges the role it plays is something that I tried to achieve with the process of intervention onsite.
Presence of multiple standpoints at varied distance demanded a stretched out image.
Even though the image is still work in progress onsite, certain finished technical elements like using a gradient background helped to fulfill certain purpose.

Elongated Permanence

Working in S10 community (a settlement close to Peenya Metro Station in Bangalore), I learnt a lot about structures. This piece, Elongated Permanence, is an intervention that enables blending in of the site into the floor painting. Elongated Permanence, permits an understanding of permanent structures like walls, doors, benches, which is something that is static but provides dynamicity to the surrounding.

ASSESS and ACCESS (continued)

The image formed was inclined more towards assessing and accessing the site through a viewers point rather than the image maker. Its simplicity explains the raw nature of my approach towards work on site.

ASSESS and ACCESS

Working onsite is a play of understanding the surroundings. Nature of the site can be interpreted subjectively.
This intervention was extremely important to locate my standing as a street/public art practitioner.

This piece can be described as first dialogue between an image and the space,
where in the environment and the image are trying to have a conversation. This dialogue
is initiated by the image but eventually concludes in the viewer’s head.
